on the seventh day of Christmas (December 31, 2017, The First Sunday after Christmas Day), my True Love gave to me the gift of glory

Note: These prayers, one for each day of the twelve-day Christmas season, in which my True Love is God, follow the pattern of that well-known 18th century English carol with a number of the days illumined by the observances of the Church calendar.

O gracious God, Your servant John the evangelist, described…defined the wonder of Your will: The Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son.(1)

By Your Spirit, grant me eyes to behold in all flesh Your glory, that I, forswearing the hypocrisy of bigotry, forsake all thought to demean and all intent to disparage any of Your children, my sisters and brothers, all who are created in the imago Dei.

Amen.
