Note: As a personal, spiritual discipline, reviving my practice in the Lenten season of 2017, I revise the prayers I wrote then for each of the forty days of this Lent; each petition focusing on a theme, a concern weighing on my mind and heart or a care of my soul and spirit.

On waiting and persevering in prayer (being a meditation on Isaiah 40.8 and Matthew 24.35)…
O Jesus, Word of God, Word of Life, continuously, rhythmically, I call out to You with every pulsation, exhalation, and contemplation…
And I, as my heart for the next beat, my lungs for the next breath, my mind for the next thought, wait for You, trusting, by faith, that as Your Word stands forever, that as You are forever, You will answer.
Amen.
