A-Lenten-Prayer-a-Day, Day 27

Note: As a personal, spiritual discipline, reviving my practice in the Lenten season of 2017, I revise the prayers I wrote then for each of the forty days of this Lent; each petition focusing on a theme, a concern weighing on my mind and heart or a care of my soul and spirit.

On following Jesus bearing my cross and fearing not (being a meditation on Luke 9.23 and 1 John 4.18)…

O Jesus, You call me to follow You daily, taking up my cross; as Yours, one of self-denial and self-sacrifice for the sake of others.

O Jesus, I delight that You, by Your merit, esteem me worthy to walk in Your way. Yet You know that I have fears and, for the sake of self-interest and self-preservation, would flee any hardship.

By Your Spirit, continue to fill my heart with Your Love that, in its perfection, casts out all my fears on this and any day and unto the day of my judgment.

Amen.
