Staying Awake

Jesus said, “Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26.41)

At the dawn of a spiritual awakening, I revel in the enlightenment (the light) of new revelation, both of myself (indeed, my self) and the world around me.

However, also aware that I may have been prepared for something more, something greater (but not necessarily better), I, feeling, even fearing the loss of the comfort of the familiar, wrestle with the temptation to retreat into a prior state of somnolescence.

Nevertheless, trusting that it is the Lord who leads me, my faith calls, compels me to keep awake.
