From Darkness, Light

God said, “Let light shine out of darkness…” (2 Corinthians 4.6a)

There are some ways I’ve always been. And some of my “always been that way” ways are wearily old. I tire of them, which is another way of saying I wish I was better; coming closer to my idealized self. (Short of that and faster, sometimes I wish I could be someone…anyone else whom I idealize as better than me.)

Nevertheless, it is through my olden, not-so-nice ways that I, perhaps paradoxically, have been able to see more clearly some of my better, even best facets. Equally paradoxically, over time, some of my darkest parts have become the ground for the planting and the flowering of light.
